Teacher by Day, Movement Leader Always: What Karrisa Knows for Sure
Some of the best teachers never step foot in a classroom to change a life. Karrisa Lewis just happens to do both.
The Teacher
Karrisa has spent her career in a high school classroom, the kind of devoted educator who shows up fully for her students, every single day. Patient. Present. Your biggest cheerleader, whether you're solving for x or just trying to make it through fourth period.
The Turn
A life-altering season brought Karrisa to San Diego, and when it came time to decide what came next, she made a choice that changed everything: she stayed. Instead of returning to the small Georgia town she came from, she chose to build something new, right where she stood.
The Almost
It started with a cycle class. Karrisa walked in, decided almost instantly she couldn't do it, and walked right back out. Most stories would end there.
The Return
But she went back. That second try led her to a mentor who saw something in her before she fully saw it in herself, and that mentor pointed her toward becoming an instructor.
The Arrival
Today, Karrisa holds certifications across a wide range of fitness disciplines, including Zumba, Strong, and Pound, among many others, and she currently leads VXN classes at Haus of Movement, the business she now owns. Her body has changed shape more times than she can count, and instead of chasing a smaller version of herself, she chose to chase movement itself.
She isn't the instructor society tells you to expect, and that's exactly the point. Her stamina consistently outlasts people who look, on paper, like they should out-perform her, and she brings a fearless, all-in, sweat-earned energy to every class she leads. Karrisa is proof that strength and stamina don't come in one shape.
Legacy Lesson
This week, write down one thing you tried, walked away from, and are brave enough to try again. Trying again is not starting over. It's how Karrisa built a business, a body, and a life she's proud of.
Black-Owned Business Spotlight: Haus of Movement
Karrisa didn't found Haus of Movement; she found it, right in the middle of her own search for a dance community that felt like home. The original owner welcomed her in and taught her to love and embrace herself exactly as she was.
When it came time for the business to continue on, the other Movement Leaders were clear about who should carry it forward: Karrisa. Not because she asked for it, but because her love for dance and her commitment to the community were unmatched.
Today, the Movement Leaders of Haus of Movement have built a room where women show up as they are and leave feeling like more of themselves. Member Alexis M. put it simply, calling it a "flawless display of women supporting women."

What I Know For Sure Collection
We're introducing a brand-new design, and it's dedicated entirely to Karrisa. Her words, "we all out here trying and that's more than enough," became the heart of our newest piece in the What I Know For Sure collection.
This isn't wisdom someone handed her. She lived her way into it, one class, one comeback, one full room at a time. Now it's yours to wear, and hers to be honored by, in two ways to fit however you move through your own trying.
The Everyday Crewneck For everyday wear, comfort-first. |
The Racerback Tank Limited edition, made to move. |
The crewneck is the everyday reminder; the limited-edition pink racerback tank is built for movement, a nod to the fitness lifestyle Karrisa lives and the brand she's built at Haus of Movement. Some days call for one. Some days call for both.
Karrisa didn't arrive at "enough" overnight; she tried her way there. May we all be brave enough to keep trying until we do too.
